Description
The MonoLux Tunable Quantum Cascade Laser System is a sophisticated laser solution designed for precision and adaptability. At its core, the system features a wavelength tunable external grating cavity quantum cascade laser (QCL), delivering a flexible wavelength coverage of ±5% around the center wavelength. This adaptability can be further enhanced with an optional broader tuning range. The laser head, which houses the QCL and collimating optics, is meticulously sealed to ensure reliable operation even in challenging environments. The MonoLux system is designed for ease of use, arriving as a complete package that includes a laser head and a laptop-based operating system, ready to be deployed at the customer's site.
The MonoLux operates predominantly in a quasi-continuous wave (QCW) mode, utilizing 200-500 ns pulses at a repetition rate of approximately 500 kHz to 2 MHz. This results in a duty cycle of around 50%, allowing the QCL to achieve an average power output exceeding 500 mW at the center of its tuning curve, dependent on the selected center wavelength. For applications requiring continuous wave (CW) operation, the system can be configured to a 100% duty cycle. Notably, the MonoLux is passively cooled, eliminating the need for fans and ensuring a quiet operational environment.
With a focus on precision, the MonoLux system offers user-specified center wavelengths, including options such as 3.8 µm, 4.1 µm, 4.5 µm, 4.8 µm, 6.3 µm, 6.8 µm, 7.3 µm, 8.5 µm, 9.5 µm, and 10.2 µm. The system is capable of tuning over the gain bandwidth of the QCL with a tuning speed of 100 ms for the entire range. It supports continuous and repeated scans, as well as step and scan functionalities, which can be controlled via a laptop computer. The output spectrum is characterized by a linewidth of less than 2 nm when operated in QCW mode, with a nearly diffraction-limited output beam quality. The MonoLux system is compact and lightweight, measuring 12 cm in width, 4.5 cm in height, and 13 cm in depth, with a weight of less than 0.5 kg. It interfaces with computers via USB, requiring at least Windows XP or later.
