BOX Optronics’ 1653.7 nm DFB butterfly laser diode delivers 10 mW of continuous, single-frequency power from a compact 14-pin butterfly package.
Built on a reliable InP multi-quantum-well ridge wave-guide with integrated distributed-feedback grating, the chip offers side-mode suppression >40 dB and spectral width <0.1 nm, guaranteeing ultra-stable emission for high-resolution gas sensing and telecom test rigs.
A precision-aligned SMF-28e or polarization-maintaining fiber pigtail is factory-coupled, providing >18 dB PER and >35 dB optical isolation, so the output is immediately ready for interferometric or cavity-enhanced systems without external isolators. An internal 10 kΩ thermistor and 1.5 A TEC hold wavelength drift below 0.1 nm °C⁻¹ across -20 to +70 °C, simplifying thermal control.
The device operates from 8 mA threshold, typically 90 mA and 1.1 V, allowing low-noise battery-powered drivers. RoHS-compliant gold-plated pins, 30 × 12.7 mm footprint and 260 °C solder-ability satisfy dense PCB or hermetic box integration.
Standard options include FC/APC or SC/APC connectors, Type-1/2 pin-out and custom wavelengths, enabling drop-in upgrade of legacy 1650 nm sources for CH₄ detection, LIDAR or fiber sensor interrogators while cutting power budget and footprint by half.
