One-Axis Rotation Stages, also known as Rotary Stages, are components of motion control systems used to restrict an object to a single axis of rotation. All rotary stages consist of a platform and a base, joined by some form of guide that restricts platform rotation about a single axis with respect to the base. Additionally, the device may also include the mechanism by which angular position of the platform is controlled in relation to the base. Rotary stages operate by physically restricting 3 axes of translation and 2 axes of rotation. This operation is fundamental in applications including micro-robotics, sensor testing, and metrology.
