Cube Beam splitters are used to split the light into two separate components and are used in life sciences and laser applications. They consist of a pair of right angled prisms carefully cemented together to minimize wave front distortion. The thickness of the cementing layer can be carefully chosen to render the desired split ratio. Polarizing cube beam splitters split the unpolarised light into s-polarization and p-polarization states, while non-polarising ones leave it intact.
