Frequently Asked Questions

A cylindrical lens focuses light into a line instead of a point, as a spherical lens would. It converges or diverges the image in the direction perpendicular to this line, and leaves it unaltered in the direction parallel to its cylinder's axis.

The cylindrical lens is available in materials such as BK7, FS, UVFS, CaF2, ZnSe, Si, and Ge.

The diameter of the cylindrical lenses ranges from 3mm to 300mm or larger.

The standard diameter tolerance is +0.0/-0.2mm, while the high precision diameter tolerance is +0.0/-0.1mm.

The standard surface quality is 60-40 S-D, while the high precision surface quality can be 40-20 or 20-10 S-D.

The lenses are uncoated by default, but coatings are available upon request.
