Machine vision refers to a machine’s ability to see and gauge distance from what it is working on using 2D or 3D measurements. An example of these machines is the robotic assembly arm which is used in virtually every modern car factory. Lenses built for machine vision enable these cameras to translate their images into measurements that a machine can read. This allows many simple and complex parts to be assembled automatically and is the feature which changing is the manufacturing industry around the world. It has also helped by ensuring that more complicated parts are assembled with more precision than humans are capable of.
