Frequently Asked Questions

The Amonics SOA is a polarization maintaining optical amplifier designed for transmitter applications to increase optical launch power to compensate for the loss of other optical devices.

The benchtop version incorporates a user-friendly front panel housing with a LCD monitor display, key switch, power adjust control knob and optical connectors, while the OEM module version is an ideal building block for OEM system integrators, especially in optical communication network and CATV applications. It requires only a single +5V power supply with low power consumption.

The Amonics SOA has a wavelength coverage of 1310nm and 1550nm.

The noise figure of the Amonics SOA is typically 12dB, with a maximum of 14dB for the 1300nm version, and typically 8dB, with a maximum of 9dB for the 1550nm version.

The fiber-to-fiber gain of the Amonics SOA is a minimum of 15dB for the 1550nm version and a minimum of 20dB for the 1300nm and 1550nm versions.
