Frequently Asked Questions

The coating of the Gold coated step index optical fiber is Gold, which provides excellent protection against chemical corrosion & mechanical stress. It also enables the fiber to perform in challenging applications and in a wider temperature range than conventional polymer coatings.

The core material of the Gold coated step index optical fiber is Pure undoped fused silica for Step index Multimode Fiber and Germanium fused silica for Graded index Multimode Fiber.

The Gold coated step index optical fiber is used for a variety of applications such as aircraft, missile, rocket, turbine & jet engine monitoring, radiation, caustic & corrosive environments, material fatigue sensing applications, high power laser delivery systems, ultra high vacuum applications, and semiconductor manufacturing.

The Standard Numerical Aperture (NA) of the Gold coated step index optical fiber is 0.22 ± 0.02 for Step index Multimode Fiber and 0.20 ± 0.015 and 0.275 ± 0.015 for Graded index Multimode Fiber. Custom Numerical Aperture is also available upon request.

The Gold coated step index optical fiber has a wide operating temperature range from cryogenic up to 700°C (Gold coating).
