AIRTRAC-6M: Low SWaP High Energy Laser
AIRTRAC-6M is a Low SWaP High Energy Laser by Areté. It is a ruggedized, high-shock, laser with >50 mJ pulse energy, available in an ultra-compact, low SWaP configuration with < 30W of wall power required.
The athermal design of this Low SWaP High Energy Laser provides high laser pulse energy over the full MIL-SPEC temperature range with low beam divergence and a full system, while weighing less than 1 lb (454 g).
This new low SWaP DPSS laser utilizes several key innovations to afford a dramatic reduction in SWaP, and cost as well as robust performance over various environmental conditions. AIRTRAC’s signature feature is a resonator design which despite its ultra-compact size, promotes a highly uniform beam and advantageous pulse lengths. It is built on a fundamentally athermal gain module which Areté has refined over several years of development.
The design of this Low SWaP High Energy Laser is mindful of manufacturability and stability throughout, and takes advantage of new and creative manufacturing techniques to deliver a wholly innovative product.

SWaP is a term referred to increasing the power while reducing the size and weight of a laser. It is a critical attribute for situations where small footprint and ruggedized compact packaging is needed. The key to SWaP optimization is the utilization of an efficient, miniature laser diode pump that can operate in a variety of conditions.
Thanks to its solid performance characteristics AIRTRAC-6M: Low SWaP High Energy Laser is an ideal choice for a wide variety of military, navy, air force, etc platforms such as ranging and laser radars.
AIRTRAC-6M: Low SWaP High Energy Laser comes with the following key features:
- Ruggedized Low SWaP design (0.43 lbs, 6.5 cu. in)
- Low power consumption (<30W wall power)
- Ultra-compact athermal laser resonator
- No significant warm-up time
- Reduced heat-load: conduction or air cooled
- Solid-state technology for increased efficiency and long life performance
