Description
The NOVA Bare Fiber Polishing System is designed for precise processing and shaping of unclad and ferrule-less fibers. NOVA provides stable control of pressure, speed and motion, which allows bare fibers to be polished with exceptional consistency across a wide range of diameters, materials and geometries. Fibers can be polished at variable angles from 0 to 50 degrees using NOVA’s specialized workholders and adapters. Standard singlemode, multimode, PM, sapphire and PCF fibers can all be processed with repeatable surface quality. NOVA’s modular adapter system supports fast changeover between fiber diameters from 80 microns to more than 3 millimeters, making the platform suitable for both R&D environments and higher-throughput production settings. Optional in-line video inspection allows operators to monitor the polishing process in real time and review the polished surface before removing the fiber from the machine. This reduces handling, improves throughput and confirms end-face geometry prior to the next step in the workflow. Conical and chisel fiber tips can also be formed on NOVA using the Orbit Shaping Module, expanding the range of supported optical applications. With its familiar Android interface, programmable recipes and repeatable performance, NOVA provides a reliable and intuitive solution for laboratories, manufacturers and development teams working with bare fibers.
