Frequently Asked Questions

The ForeSight™ family of fiber optic Brillouin distributed strain and temperature sensors utilizes Brillouin scattering to provide sophisticated optical sensor systems for distributed sensing. These sensors offer a direct method of measuring strain and temperature changes along the entire length of an optical fiber.

The applications of Fiber Optic Distributed Strain and Temperature Sensors (DSTS) include oil and gas pipeline monitoring, oil and gas well monitoring, refinery efficiency sensing, dam monitoring, civil engineering applications, security, cryostat, and fire applications.

The BOTDA+BOTDR Combo Module combines Brillouin Optical Time Domain Analyzer (BOTDA) and Brillouin Optical Time Domain Reflectometer (BOTDR) capabilities, allowing for versatile measurements even in the presence of fiber breaks.

The maximum fiber length for BOTDA is 160 km and for BOTDR is 70 km.

The spatial resolution for BOTDA is 0.1 m and for BOTDR is 1 m.
