Frequently Asked Questions

The specifications for the wedge prism include a design wavelength of BK7: 632.8nm, n=1.515@632.8nmUVFS: 355nm, n=1.476@355nm, a dimension tolerance of +0.0/-0.2mm, a thickness of 3mm on the thinnest edge, a wedge angle tolerance of <3 arc minutes, a flatness of <λ/4@632.8nm, a surface quality of 60/40 scratch and dig, a clear aperture of >90%, and no coating, although a coating is available.

A wedge prism can be used individually to deflect a beam to a special angle or two wedge prisms can work together to assemble an anamorphic prism to correct the elliptical shape of a laser beam.

The cone angle θd is 4x the specified angular deviation of one wedge and can be directed to anywhere within that angle by combining two wedge prisms that can be rotated individually.

The deviation angle range for the wedge prism is from 1deg to 10deg, but other angles can be realized upon request.

A wedge prism has plane inclined surfaces that deflect light toward its thicker portion.
