Frequently Asked Questions

KTA crystal is an excellent nonlinear optical crystal for Optical Parametric Oscillation (OPO) application.

The transparency range of KTA crystal is 350-5300nm. The absorption coefficients at 1064 nm, 1533 nm, and 3475 nm are less than 0.05%/cm, less than 0.05%/cm, and less than 5%/cm, respectively. The NLO susceptibilities (pm/V) are d31 = 2.76, d32 = 4.74, d33 = 18.5, d15 = 2.3, and d24 = 3.2. The electro-optical constants (pm/V) (low frequency) are r33=37.5, r23=15.4, and r13=11.5. The SHG Phase Matchable Range is 1083-3789nm.

KTA crystal has better non-linear optical and electro-optical coefficients, significantly reduced absorption in the 2.0-5.0 µm region, broad angular and temperature bandwidth, low dielectric constants, and its low ionic conductivities result in higher damage threshold compared with KTP.

The crystal structure of KTA crystal is orthorhombic, with a point group of mm2. The lattice parameters are a=13.125Å, b=6.5716Å, and c=10.786Å.

The melting point of KTA crystal is 1130˚C.
