Rochon Polarizers consist of two birefringent prisms made from materials like Calcite cemented together. The ordinary and extraordinary rays remain collinear and propagate through optical axis through the first prism. Upon entering the second prism, the ordinary rays do not experience a change in the refractive index and pass through the prism without deviation, while the extraordinary rays refract at the interface. Rochon Polarizers offers the advantages like high polarization purity, high transmittance, wide wavelength range, wide acceptance angle, o-ray passing through with little deviation.
