History of art photonics GmbH

art photonics GmbH was founded in Berlin in September 1998 and quickly became one of the global leaders in fiber optics industry. It currently focuses in the development and production of specialty fiber products for a broad spectrum from 300nm to 16µm.

The unique name, art photonics, is a combination of an abbreviation and “photonics” - a field of research that was rapidly advancing in late 90’s. “art”, originally A.R.T., abbreviates as “Advanced Research & Technology” in photonics, – as our fiber product portfolio was reflecting developments in several unique fiber technologies such as the extrusion technology for polycrystalline IR-fibers from Metal Halide crystals. Subsequently, we simplified the abbreviation as “art” as it also reflects our spirit of innovation and creativity in everything we do and offer.


Our Specialized R&D Team Expands the Frontiers of Fiber Optics

art photonics currently employs over 25 highly qualified engineers and scientists that expand the leading edge of what’s possible today and enable our product offering motto: “broad spectra fiber solutions”. This enables us to satisfy various OEM customers providing unique and customized fiber optic products and solutions tailored to their specific demands. And all this with a fast transfer into high volume, high quality production according the ISO-9001:2015 standards.

As a result of this tailored approach, we have organically grown our product portfolio to include broad variety of standard laser cables, spectroscopy probes, and other fiber products for promising applications.


Custom Solutions for Customers (OEM and Large Scale)

Our goal has always been to engineer, design and manufacture the highest quality, cost-effective optical fiber solutions of a broad spectral range (from 200nm to 18µm) for OEM market. Our proprietary technologies, such as those on Polycrystalline Mid InfraRed (PIR-) fibers and Metal Coated Silica fibers are now used worldwide for OEM applications. This includes various spectroscopy probes for medical diagnostic devices, industrial process control, as well as fiber optic components for mass production of medical and industrial lasers and laser systems.

Rapid Prototyping: Our expert team of design and application engineers allows us to rapidly move from concept to robust design and to final product, with in-house proficiency in all modern standards (2D, 3D CAD, Optical Modeling Software (FRED), etc.)

Technical Support: We understand that the product journey for a successfully delivery includes excellent technical support and guidance, product installation, training, troubleshooting, and more. Hence we offer a host of services that cover all this as well.
