Frequently Asked Questions

Precision Optical Slits are commonly used for generating a line spread function, as entrance and exit slits in spectrophotometers, and in a wide range of imaging and alignment applications.

Precision Optical Slits have a diameter of 25.4 mm, a thickness of 1.5 mm, a background transmission of optical density 3, and a slit width tolerance of ±5%. The slits are photo-etched on a chromium-coated optical glass substrate and come in widths of 10-500 µm.

Precision Air Slits are micro-machined from solid opaque material and can be used in all the same applications as Optical Slits. They are not wavelength dependent and have no coating, eliminating the possibility of pinhole effects in high power applications.

Precision Air Slits have a diameter of 9.5 mm, a thickness of 13 µm, and a slit length of 3 mm. The dimensions tolerance is ±10%.

Precision Air Slits come in widths of 5-500 µm, with catalog numbers ranging from 43-6022 to 43-6113.
