Frequently Asked Questions

YVO4 crystal is widely used in fiber-optic isolators, beam displacers, and optical circulators.

The basic properties of YVO4 crystal include a density of 4.22 g/cm3, a crystal cell of Zircon Tetragonal, a transparency range of 0.4 to 5µm, and a thermal expansion coefficient of 5, glass-like Mohs hardness.

The specifications of birefringent wedges for fiber-optic isolators include a size of 1.25mmx1.25mmx0.5mm with 13° or 15° wedge, phi=22.5°, R<0.2% @1550 or 1310nm AR-Coating, and a surface quality of λ/4 @ 632.8 nm.

The thermal conductivity coefficient of YVO4 crystal is 5.23 W/m/K for C-axis and 5.10 W/m/K for ⊥C.

The supplier, CASTECH, has completed its strong mass-production line that can provide various sizes of bulk and finished high-quality YVO4 crystals up to φ35x50mm3 and φ20x20mm3, respectively. They also provide large quantity YVO4 wedges and displacers used for fiber optical isolators and circulators, interleavers, in size of 1.25x1.25x0.5mm3 to 3x3x15mm3 to meet OEM customer’s requirement.
